Sometimes life is very complicated

I've been studying and thinking about Jainism, the Branch Davidians, Jonestown, ethical self-formation, development and charity work, language and listening and hypocrisy... and in church we've been looking through Job in the Sunday morning services.

Detaching yourself from life is not saving yourself from it. Sticking a smile over sorrow is not freedom. Self-examination, penance and self-flagellation are not purifying. Telling people that God loves them is useless if it is just words. Mindless belief is terrifyingly dangerous.

But I am amazed by Horatio Spafford and Angie Smith.
